A playground for 3D digital art

This is a personal project of mine. Using the features of Blender, it is possible to make intriguing digital artworks that can change in shape and color by nothing more than using a couple of sliders. Below you can find some images created. This is an ongoing project, you can read my ambitions below.

Technical explanation

Generative 3D modelling works by changing the mesh based on values of a gradient texture. By changing the texture, so does the 3D model in surprising ways. After realizing that you can combine textures to create more possibilities, it quickly becomes a path of playful discovery of what can be created.

Lately, I have been working on combining Blender (the 3D modelling program) with Arduino. This opened up a whole new playing field of interaction between the physical and digital. The first step is to build a prototype that allows the user to create generative 3D art using physical sliders. A future ambition is to project the art on a large wall as a new media art installation.
